Privacy Statement

As Monopole, we communicate with our visitors, affiliates, donors, and partners. This inevitably involves collecting personal data. As Monopole, we are committed to handling this data with the utmost care and are happy to clarify what data we collect and what we do with it. Some of this data is personal, while others are not.

Visitors
We ask visitors for their postal code (without house number) upon entry. By omitting the house number, visitors remain anonymous. The postal codes help us see where our visitors come from, enabling us to better tailor exhibitions and communications, and to inform our subsidisers.

During your visit to the Monopole, our security cameras may record your presence. This is done for the safety of visitors, staff, and our collection. No other personal data is linked to the camera footage. These recordings are kept for two weeks and then automatically deleted. They are not shared with third parties, except if requested by the police for investigation purposes.

Website visitors
When you visit our website, data is collected automatically through so-called ‘cookies’ about the order and duration of page views. This data is gathered by Google Analytics. It is a common practice among website managers to let Google analyse this data. We use the results to improve our website. The collected data is not sold or provided to others.

Subscribers to our digital newsletter
For subscribers to our digital newsletter, sent via MailChimp, we collect name, email address, and IP address. Data is also collected automatically via ‘cookies’ to track which newsletter articles are read. This helps us improve the newsletter. MailChimp is used to send the newsletter and collect and report data back to us. These data are not sold or shared.

You can only subscribe to the digital newsletter yourself. Subscription takes place via a form on the website www.monopoleschiedam.nl. After signing up, you receive a confirmation email. Only after your second confirmation are you fully subscribed.

Unsubscribing:
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each newsletter. If you have any questions, please contact info@monopoleschiedam.nl indicating that you no longer wish to receive the newsletter or with your question. We will respond within three working days.

Customers of our products or services
If you purchase our products or services, we store your name, email, address details, and order information. We use this data to ensure correct delivery and billing. Most personal data are deleted two years after completion of the service, but some data must be kept for seven years for tax reasons. These data are not sold or shared.

Donations and loans
From people who donate or loan objects or documents to the Monopole, we record name, address, and optionally email and phone number. This helps us track from whom we received which objects or to whom they have been loaned. If the donor gives permission, their data is also saved in our collection database. This way, we can invite them when their donation is used in an exhibition. These data are not sold or shared.

Donors and sponsors
We record name, address, and optionally email and phone number of donors. We use this data to send annual donation requests and inform them about activities for donors. If a donor authorises us to automatically deduct an amount annually, we also store their IBAN and the consent given. These data are not sold or shared.

Supporters
We keep name, address, IBAN, and optionally email and phone number for invoicing supporters annually. Personal data are deleted when a supporter no longer wishes to support us. These data are not sold or shared.

Business contacts
We store personal data of business contacts such as name, address, phone number, email, bank information, and VAT number. We use these to manage daily business operations and comply with legal obligations. These data are not sold or shared and are deleted after business relations end or upon request via info@monopoleschiedam.nl.

Employees and volunteers
We record personal data of employees such as name, address, date of birth, IBAN, emergency contact details, photos, and interests. These data are used to inform employees and volunteers about the organisation and their tasks via mail, email, and the internal website. Where necessary, data is shared with the payroll company. We ensure careful handling contractually. Data from job applications are deleted six weeks after the procedure ends, unless the applicant consents to storing data for one year for future vacancies.
