Language
Our gallery texts are available in Dutch and English. They offer in-depth ideas about contemporary art and theory—both for art professionals and visitors new to the artists’ work in our exhibitions. A large part of our public programmes (both live and online) are conducted in English to reach a broad audience: local, national, and international. Some programmes are offered in Dutch. Guided tours and interactive tours for school groups or groups of more than 10 people are available by appointment in Dutch or English. For other languages, please inquire about possibilities.

Assistance Dogs

Getting Here

By car
In Schiedam, you can park for free with a disabled parking permit in regular paid parking zones. However, there are no designated disabled parking spaces directly at Monopole.

At Koemarkt (about 400 metres from Monopole), there are two disabled parking spaces available. Please note these are quite small and have a maximum parking time of 2 hours.

The Nieuwe Passage car park offers two adapted parking spaces (on levels 0 and 1). The garage has a lift. From here, it’s about a 450-metre walk to Monopole. Note: parking fees apply in car parks.

By taxi
If arriving by taxi, there is a spot to briefly stop and let passengers out at the entrance of Monopole. Note: Appelstraat is a one-way street. Be careful not to drive past the entrance, as turning around is not allowed. Address: Appelstraat 2A, Schiedam.

By train
Take the train to Schiedam Centrum station. From there, it’s about a 20-minute walk (1.5 km) to Monopole. Alternatively, you can transfer to bus line 51 or 54 towards the Koemarkt stop.

By bus or tram
The Koemarkt stop is served by bus lines 51, 54, and 89, and tram lines 1 and 11. This stop is approximately 300 metres from Monopole. Signage at the stop indicates where wheelchair users can board and alight. From the stop, follow the signs marked ‘Musea’—these will guide you to Monopole and other museums.
