MONOPOLE FEST
Saturday, September 20th, from 8:00 PM
MONOPOLE FEST presents CHARLOT, GLEN FARIA, BLAUDZUN and DJ’s ZENA-RAE and FRANKY STICKS
Monopole FEST is an opening celebration for the entire city! Together, we’ll mark the grand finale of Schiedam viert 750 as well as the new future of the Monopole — the monumental building that holds so many warm memories for the people of Schiedam.
On Saturday evening, September 20, from 8:00 – 11:00 PM, the Museum Square will transform into a vibrant festival ground with free performances by CHARLOT, Glen Faria, and Blaudzun. DJs Zena-Rae and Franky Sticks will also be there. The square and all performances are completely free to attend throughout the evening, and no registration is required. Come dance, enjoy, and celebrate the future with us: of the Monopole and of Schiedam!

CHARLOT
The evening kicks off with a performance by Rotterdam-based singer-songwriter CHARLOT. CHARLOT, the creative project of singer and songwriter Lotte Mulder, creates dreamy pop layered with lush strings and ethereal synthesizers. Her music blends art, literature, and imagination into enchanting soundscapes. Last year, CHARLOT and her band opened for Wende and were named the second-best act at Noorderslag by 3voor12: “CHARLOT and her band are ready for the bigger stages.” And that’s exactly what they’ll prove in Schiedam!
Glen Faria
Next up is Glen Faria, a versatile singer, rapper, and songwriter from Amsterdam-Zuidoost. Effortlessly blending rap and vocals, his music tells relatable stories about identity, love, and everyday life, with influences drawn from Surinamese culture. Faria also writes songs for other national and international artists. Since 2020, he has once again focused on releasing his own music and toured theaters with his show Hoe Weet Je Dat? (“How Do You Know?”) — also the title of the lead single from his seventh studio album Faria (2023).
Blaudzun
Blaudzun, the alter ego of Johannes Sigmond, crafts indie rock and pop filled with poetic lyrics and monumental arrangements. For 17 years, he has been stacking up highlights: gold records, iconic songs, and countless festival appearances. Recently, he toured Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands with his seventh album Latter Days. His music combines melancholy and hope in powerful, energetic songs. At Monopole FEST, Blaudzun will give a semi-acoustic performance — not to be missed!

Zena-Rae
Her style? A dynamic mix of eclectic sounds – from Chicago house, ghetto tech and footwork to breaks. Her approach? Always with humor, energy and love.
Zena-Rae is a multifaceted creative, and that shines through in her music selection. In the club she delivers powerful sets filled with Chicago house, ghetto tech, footwork and breaks. But in other settings, she effortlessly broadens her horizons: think ambient, jazz, R&B, disco or hiphouse (and the list keeps growing). One thing’s for sure: predictability is not her thing. What you can expect? Humor, energy, passion and love – every time Zena-Rae steps behind the decks.
Franky Sticks
Born in Middelburg and raised in Rotterdam, Franky Sticks discovered music and graffiti at a young age. At 17 he found turntablism, which sparked his growth into a versatile DJ with colorful sets full of UK garage, jungle, footwork, house and more. Alongside music, he is also a visual artist: his work – from murals to paintings and digital illustrations – reflects the energy and diversity of Rotterdam.
